Well, Transmetropolitan isn't exclusively about the Bush years - it's also about the Nixon years (in the way it draws from HST), but in addition, it draws from the Blair years - I believe Ellis has said that the Smiler's look and general sliminess is closer to being Blair than anything else (in response to people comparing the Smiler to John Edwards, which is also a freakily similar comparison). And I think, trying not to be controversial, but I think in some ways, there are comparisons one might be able to draw between the Blair years as Ellis saw them, and contemporary American politics. So maybe the political bent still holds up partly for that reason.

I should re-read Transmet, it's been too long. How is Gun Machine? I didn't much care for Crooked Little Vein.
