Yes! You've described one of the reasons I love Rosen so much -- he's such a fascinating, multi-layered character.

It's also interesting that he has a lot of stereotypical "maternal" characteristics as a counterpoint to the two ultra-masculine tough guys he leads. Even his downsides..."controlling" and "manipulative" are often seen as the dark side to the maternal archetype, versus "violent" and "intimidating" for bad fathers, and the show doesn't make him seem weak or "lesser than male" for it. You don't see male characters on TV like Rosen very often.
