Lydia's not all that great, either. She tells Jackson to take steroids, tells him to suck up serious pain like the pros, makes out with his rival, and makes it very clear she cares almost exclusively about his money, looks, and talent.

Actually, she doesn't just care about him because of his money, looks, and talent. It's been shown/heavily implied that those are the reasons that she and Jackson got together in the beginning (and Jackson was just as guilty of entering the relationship because it was expected/could increase his social status/benefited him in several ways), but they more than showed during season 2 that there are legitimate feelings there on both Lydia and Jackson's ends. There was true affection there, although it was often only in private and tended to take second place to their public facades. The relationship was still incredibly messed up on many, many levels and they were both using each other in similar ways, but saying that Lydia was only with him for his money, looks, and talent completely ignores the majority of season 2, and even a few select moments within season 1.
