Personally, I'm baffled as to why nobody has written some kind of 'omegas are sick of this shite' fic, or at least stepped outside of the trope? How about, omegas are the only ones that can reproduce so they have *all* the power and surround themselves with fanatically loyal alpha and betas who will protect them and ward off all threats....

I get it, kinky sex, loss of power, control over, whatever, but.... C'mon, fandom! We branch out and run to death every teeny branching of any sort of kink - where's the stuff where omegas are on top??

Been done. People play with this setting a lot. If you can think of an aversion of the usual tropes in ABO, that aversion has probably been written.

I have not seen any like that. I wonder where they're all hiding....

Ah. I find the prompts that are filled are either creepy or bland, and the interesting ones are usually left to languish. Ah well.

There are a few pretty interesting role reversals knocking around SPN fandoms as well.

Yeah, a lot of it (kink meme fills and ABO) is trash.

But then again, a lot of everything is.

I've read a few in various fandoms where the alphas were the discriminated or enslaved class. Sherlock fandom tended to mess around with expectations when Moriarty or/and Sherlock are omegas. I think I read one in X-Men fandom where omegas are the ruling class. A/B/O is not exactly my bag, I usually only read the ones recc'ed to me, so I can't say how common they are.

It's been written several times over. There are fics that go into the politics of it all, and also fics that flip the usual power-dynamics on their head, putting omegas in charge and giving alphas the lower social status (or occasionally making them slaves). Like the anon above me said, if there's a protest/aversion to any of the kinks in the a/b/o verse, then fic exploring that has probably been written.

I haven't managed to find any like that. A fic with alphas as slaves isn't any more appealing to me, though. In general, slave-fic either disgusts, annoys, or creeps me out. So it's possible i missed them due to that.

There's an XMFC one called "The Omegaist Mystique" that does world-building, discusses the culture, and contains no sex and barely a pairing, if you're interested. It's just on AO3.

What's XMFC? I am so not up on the, uh....thing. With the initials. JEEZ.

This is why, because my brain just *won't retain* that stuff. Sheesh.

x as an initial letter in acronyms are pretty unique, otherwise I won't remember it so easily either

HA! That should have pinged for me, as well, but then there are all those mangas and things out there, and stuff like Homestuck, and X-files, too, so....

I'm lucky to recognize the few i *do* like. Sadly, X-men isn't one of the fandoms i enjoy.

Heee! For some reason, i never connect SPN with Supernatural until i've started at it for a minute, and that's my main fandom! I dunno. I call it Show, so maybe that's why....

X-men First Class, the movie that was out in 2011. It has a ton of A/O fics that buck the trope. I don't think Path by a_q is finished, but that went into a universe where Omegas keep themselves separated from warrior Alphas, and kidnap one every year for breeding purposes. Some are well done, others are not, but I tend to prefer fics where Omegas have more control, or can get on suppressants. There was a Mulan AU recently, and anything by Pookaseraph tends to take the power play into consideration.

Ah ha, okay. Not my cuppa, fandom-wise, but nice to know *someone* is trying to get outside the box.

I read a pretty good Avengers fic (Steve/Tony) where Omegas were in charge, and Alphas were rare and generally feared, hated, mistrusted, etc. And of course Tony Stark was an Alpha, and it's like the ONLY omegaverse fic I've ever just enjoyed.
