To me it's incredibly icky. I've seen authors deal a bit with the whole rights thing, and the world building could've interesting especially when they start going against the so called mandated roles in society... but the whole biology added aspects make it a lot squickier than just the social implications. Because it's usually accompanied by knotting and then they add my usual no go button that it's the mpreg one and ... ugh...

Still, my only desire is that people keep labelling them correctly, so I know what to avoid. Other than that, yes, I totally agree with YKINMK but I do get the wish to discuss the more problematic aspects of the arrangement too.

I'm not into mpreg, either, so i much prefer it just to be a kink-thing, with no actual *babies*. Like - we have our useless appendix, but it serves no purpose and if it were removed at birth, it would make no difference. So 'heat' once served a purpose, but now it's just a leftover biological 'thing'.

I guess since we're all ruled by biology to one degree or another, i don't have as much of a problem with that as when it's allowed to become the iron-clad rules of a very unequal and rigid society.

The heat would've ok, without the creepy society behind, I agree.

I read what you said about the dom/sub thing, and I agree. I remember a prompt in a meme I was thinking about filling, in which the prompter asked for two subs in a relationship with people 'trying to fix them' with a dom, but it not working. That sounded interesting, as it was going against the creepiness of the arragement. Unfortunately, someone filled it to make it a dom with two subs threesomes and I was left wondering if they didn't realize that that was just enforcing the whole "place in society dictated by biology" crap...

Meh. I totally understand and appreciate the whole dom/sub thing in fic and in life (though i don't practice) but when it's this 'everyone has to choose/everyone is born like this' kind of enforced binary....

That's just icky. Especially when the subs are treated as if they're not capable of being fully independent humans without a dom. Just no.
