extreme domination/submission doesn't reflect poorly on the characters' personalities, and being desperate and begging to be fucked doesn't mean the woman omega is someone with loose morals or no self-respect -- they just literally can't help it.

... Isn't that in some ways making it worse, though? I mean, it's not saying that wanting to be fucked or wanting to engage in D/s are okay choices to want to make, it's saying that the only excuse this universe could come up with for them was to remove the element of choice. How is that supporting the desire to engage in D/s or enjoying being the bottom, when essentially it's saying that they're only excusable when biology overrides sense?

It just seems to me that that set-up would be re-enforcing the idea that these things are things that reflect on your character and you shouldn't enjoy them freely.

Yes of course, if you think about it deeply, but that's not what it's purpose is. It's purpose is to be an easy shortcut to being able to FANTASIZE about dub-con situations that turn you on without having a bunch of icky rl thoughts niggling at you and interfering with your ability to enjoy it. It's handwaved by "alternate universe, different rules, no1curr".

It's shallow, and everyone knows it's shallow, but it's enough to make them able to indulge in harmless porny fantasy. It's not supposed to be deep or meaningful or politically correct or empowering. It's a tool for making porn happen guilt-free, like sex pollen or Aliens Made Them Do It or pon farr.

... I would argue that any fantasy publicly posted stops being harmless, since it is then interacted with and therefore sends a message whether it wants to or not. But I suspect that's a different discussion.

That aside, though, obviously in some cases the whole 'no irl thoughts niggling at you' backfired with this one, since it seems to have provoked very mixed reactions when people actually did pause to think about it. It gives an air of attempting to excuse some things that don't necessarily need to be excused (D/s, bottoming), and other things that really shouldn't be excused (non-con), which I'd think is actually more harmful that just a straight-up fantasy involving non-con/dub-con that's acknowledged as such.
