It came up in a discussion several posts back and multiple people thought it was a good idea. Unless I'm completely misremember, it's not meant as ironclad rules but as a resource for people who are new to fandom/fanfic.

Yes is more of a Fanfic Guide. But I wrote rules and just didn't change it.

A fanfic guide is a good idea, but the people who need it the most, for example, tumblr-ites posting their kink meme fics to AO3, probably won't see it.
