yeah, that's why I was confused. because without the applicator you are totally just putting your fingers where the applicator would be. which....would be bloodier, yes?

I find the idea of an applicator super awesome! But how can you... discreetly carry these around? I'm not a purse-carrying person, and I don't think these huge things would fit nicely in my pockets. Pads are basically invisible.

well, they aren't significantly larger in diameter than just a tampon (at least the ones I use aren't), so the main difference would be length, but they make them smaller every day. Recently I saw a special "compact" type where the applicator was extendable -- that is, it was no larger than a regular tampon before use. (found a link to one -> http://www.tampax.com/en-US/products/productDetail.aspx?ID=tampax-compak-pearl)

But I am a purse-carrying person, so I don't actually know how noticeable a regular tampon would be in a pocket. Sorry. :(
