I started to write a silly self-insert-Sue fic for my own entertainment, and now all of a sudden I'm finding myself really invested in it and it's got an actual plot that doesn't even centre around the Sue, and I really want to share it.
Except that I know for a fact that no one else would care, because Mary-Sues are such personal wish-fulfillment things that nobody would be nearly as excited about it as I am, and also it's a Rise of the Guardians Sue and the fandom is quite frankly flooded with the damn things at the moment. So I'm torn between keeping it to myself and being slightly disappointed that I haven't anyone to squee excitedly at and whining to f!s about it, or making a sockpuppet (because no way am I attaching my name to this) and posting it somewhere and being disappointed that nobody cares.
Poo. I should have kept this Sue confined to my head, like all the rest of them.

Make a sock and post it, but don't be disappointed.

I actually really like reading OC fanfics. I don't know anything about Rise of the Guardians, but OC fanfics can still be fun, and useful for exploring some aspects of canon that aren't or can't be explored by the actual characters.

I'm kind of doing the same thing with my ridiculous Homestuck fanfic, about a character who does exist in the story, but is kind of a random background joke (good old FedoraFreak). There are things I want to explore about Sburb and the Homestuck universe, but that I can't really use the canon folks for. (Or at least the important ones!)
