which is obviously ridiculous. I like a couple of the classics, but if a book is set in the real world, I want to be able to relate to it. And I can't easily to relate to stories set in the 1800's or earlier. So generally I stick to the classics that are fantastical or science fiction. That and myths; I really love mythology.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-08 07:34 am (UTC)(link)Ah, that I actually knew, sadly. I was just surprised that the person I was responding to seemed surprise to see someone else with that opinion.
Same, pretty much. There are some that I actually really *want* to like too. Like, I love the general plot of a lot of Mark Twain's work...But I just *cannot* get into them. Something about the style he uses to write fiction gets a 'CAN'T!' response from my brain. [Which is a little sad since I *love* his autobiography.]
Also myths are love. Always.
