Re: So I bought the Sims 3
I think the only one I'd recommend getting is Generations. Because you can send your kids and teens off to boarding school >.> And maybe Late Night.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-08 12:41 am (UTC)(link)Supernatural is great if you're into fantasy fandoms and want to play them out a bit more, otherwise I wouldn't bother.
Pets is really REALLY good, in that it's good for animal lovers but also presents more features to challenge general players.
Ambitions is good in that it allows you to involve yourself in your sims' careers: if you choose an Ambitions career you are in charge of performing tasks and earning money. I think it is great for some players, not so much for those who aren't as interested in the da-to-day
Generations has some fun features, and some very useful bits, e.g. boarding school if you're not interested in raising children. I recommend this expansion.
World Adventures give a brief respite from the usual world, but is a very poor imitation of an adventure game, so get it if you want more content and variety, not for an adventure. Also get it if you want a lothario. It's much easier to run a girl/guy/either in every port ;-)
Seasons I've barely played, having received it as a late Christmas present only recently.
Re: So I bought the Sims 3
I've played Seasons... it's meh. It's fun the first time around (until your Sim starts to burn because they were outside too long in summer and none of the NPCs care and suddenly your Sim is dead after two days of living) but then it gets repetitive... My Sim child couldn't go to school for their whole... child-phase, as it was winter and every day was a Snow Day... aging up with a C as overall grade = not so good.
I forgot Ambitions! It's cool, too!
In Pets I was a little sad that they didn't bring back pet jobs. I haven't played much with Pets.
What's really good is that you can (I don't know if that was added with SS or SN) change what types of weather and ...supernatural beings you'd like to have, how long the seasons are, opt out of celebrity system for current household (or whole neighborhood),... The celebrity system goes crazy pretty quickly.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-08 12:53 am (UTC)(link)It never did me any good to have Bunny a 5* celeb and Raffles lagging behind :-( The celeb system can be really irritating.
I wonder how I'll find Seasons once I have some time. I play with hge lifespans, so I'm curious now about whether I'll have more luck with winter schooling.
