I've heard about that one. Didn't know about the vampires.

You're just c/p-ing this into every remotely relevant thread aren't you? :P

Awwww. We use the same icon. :)

(And yes! Yes, I am! I loved that series so hard.)

One of the awesomest characters in The Scar by China Mieville is a steampunk vampire. It's a wonderful book - above all, it's about unknowingness. And also exile, pirates, vampires, adventure on the high seas, Great Old Ones and idk ALL OF THE THINGS.

A little more than halfway through this, and I endorse this comment wholeheartedly. ALL OF THE THINGS including humanoid mosquitoes. Nope. Not talking about the steampunk vampire here.

The Brucolac is wonderful! (although currently I'm more fond of Uther and I hope that doesn't change)

omg but WHY HAVE ONLY ONE OF THEM. (true story; the first scene that Uther and the Brucolac had together, my slasher brain went 'lol, they're fucking' in its usual nonserious fashion, and then there was scene after subsequent scene until I was '....................hang on WHAT IF THEY ARE ACTUALLY FUCKING.') I just love their whole backstory.

YOU MAKE AN EXCELLENT CASE. CARRY ON.
