Oh man, that old dilemma. I feel for you.

Never admit to your instructors that you're into that stuff; you'll never be taken seriously.

Then again, I was one of those animu nerds and now I translate for a living, so I guess it can work out okay. I do look back with no small amount of chagrin on my pathetic high school/college fanboy self.

Wait - zomg, is that a Nasu icon?!!1eleven
I thought I'd NEVER see one on LJ!

And I might as well say that re:1 the Japanese teacher at my school is I think fuming that he has to be in charge of the Japanese club which is basically full of really irritating otaku or wannabe-otaku (he can't stand the anime-screening sessions)

It is indeed a Nasu icon. And here's another one! As a cyclist, that movie felt like it was made especially for me and I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT. Ahem. (you know there is a sequel coming in september, right?)

As far as anime clubs go, I really think that college Japanese clubs and anime clubs should be separate at this point.

Awesome! I've never heard anyone talk about Nasu before on LJ and find it quite cool someone likes it. Yeah, I read up about the sequel OVA, and while I'm a bit worried about the story I hope to see some great cycling (I don't know much about professional cycling so the movie was an eye-opener)

Yeah. It's very sad when freshmen try to come in wanting to learn more about Japanese culture but are turned off by the maniacal otaku. It pisses me off. Oh well.

My teacher's actually cool about it. *shrugs* So it's not across the board.

Well, they SHOULD be cool about it, because it's what's driving Japanese class enrollment up and giving them all, you know, JOBS. I'm glad you have the exception to the rule.

Nice icon. Gotta love tarepanda.

WORD. Another thing really cool about him is that he, unlike the first Japanese teacher I had and dropped, didn't assume everyone had taken it in high school and basically make the class unsurvivable for those of us who missed out on it back then. Plus, he's a funny guy. ^_^ I hope I can do well in the class.

And I ganked the icon from someone else ^_^ But it's fun.

Oh, and HEY your name is my favorite L'Arc song! Though I'm not good enough to pick out the specific words yet. *fails to still need translation pages*

Hah, is it a L'arc song? Which album? I used to love those guys. Went to a show in Japan and everything.

(I just took it since it's sort of a derivative of my actual real English name. ;p)
