it isn’t 'true' fantasy

What would you call 'true' fantasy? I've heard terms like "epic fantasy", or even "high fantasy", but I've never heard anyone say that books wiht magic and mythical creatures aren't fantasy.

Just to clarify, because sometimes it's hard to figure out tone over the 'net - I'm not trying to be sarcastic or rude. Just curious here. :) I'm a native Spanish speaker and I've noticed that English terms for literary genres don't always translate exactly like ours.
