Celebrity Tattoos

(Anonymous) 2013-01-11 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Wanting to have a little bit of a discussion about people who get celebrity tattoos (portraits). Either of characters or the actor/actresses themselves. How do you feel about them? What do you think their reasoning is behind getting them? If you have one yourself, what does it represent to you and what do you tell people when they ask you about it? Just curious to hear some opinions about this, I've seen a surge of some really great tattoos of different people from Breaking Bad characters to Michael J Fox.

I think getting anyone's face tattood onto you is weird. Celebrities are just a little step farther into weirdsville.

I think faces are strange, in general. I've considered getting a tattoo of a favorite Japanese celebrity, but not of her face, but of something related to her, as a reminder of how much she's meant to me. But I've never seen a tattoo with a face on it that I liked.

I knew a girl who had an awesome portrait of Dita Von Teese tattooed on her arm. It was really beautiful and colorful. I feel the same about tattoos of celebrities as I do about all tattoos. Save the money, find a great artist and get something beautifully done. Don't get shit like this: http://cheezburger.com/6643490560 .

Oh, and it doesn't bother me. I just hope you are marking your body with someone or something that means something or inspires you.

I was just curious because I have one myself, and I did find a great artist who did a wonderful black & white piece for me. It means a lot to me, but I can see how it would be weird for other people, and in same cases, scary. But I'm not a stalker or anything, just appreciative of the work this person has done and the positive changes they've inspired me to make in my life.

Really curious as to what people who DON'T say anything, who don't have the luxury of being anonymous, would usually think on a daily basis.
