I'm sorry, my icon is not for eats! I'd rather want the potato salad rn

That's awesome!
I never know what grad school really ~means in the US. Is it any kind of education after your first degree (which here usually is a bachelor's, so a master's would already count as grad school) or is it ~the route to PhD-dom? What's your field, if you don't mind sharing?

Yeah, basically anything after bachelor's is generally considered grad school. I want a Master's but really don't think I want a PhD because I don't plan on staying in academia. The sister who still goes to my alma mater is working on her dissertation (in history) right now and I'm just NOPE NOPE NOPE to that. Apparently when I write papers I'm pretty good, but I don't have the focus to keep at it like she can.

My field is theatre, hence the nerdery about different versions of Cabaret! I am a dramaturg, I do research for a theatre company on background stuff that they might find useful. Right now I'm working on a play that involves excerpts from the WPA Slave Narratives so I am doing a lot on that and the lives slaves/right after emancipation. I like history and theatre history, but I don't like it enough that I want to stay in academia and just write papers/books on it- dramaturgy is awesome because I get to use all those skills while contributing to productions that people actually go and see!

Basically I need an MA so I can work at the major theatres. Oregon Shakespeare Festival would be my dream job.

Thanks! See, here we just consider getting the Master's as a normal part of your studies... if you only go study for the Bachelor's, then you can just not study, too. So, that's confusing sometimes!

I'm thinking you're doing things like, for example, make sure there's no anachronisms and everything is accurate? That's awesome! And probably a lot of work, too, because there's so many things to consider that don't actually come to mind immediately...

I hope you get to work there, fingers crossed :D \o/
