Hey, you never know! Amour has won so many awards already that the Academy might want another film to win and/or think another film is better!

You really think a movie with spoken Norwegian based on a Norwegian explorer travelling across the Pacific Ocean from South America to the Polynesian islands on a raft... Which he did to prove people anthropologists wrong.

Okay I will admit I find the story interesting, but it is a Norwegian film we are talking about. Norwegian films even at its best sucks.

I will shut up now, my googling told me this: Academy Award-winning documentary film chronicling his adventures.

So the documentary have won an award, this isn't the documentary though, it is a "based on a true story" movie.

Oscars can be so unpredictable sometimes! But sometimes they're really not, I admit. I haven't seen it, but from what I understand, Amour is THE front-runner but the story is rather depressing. Maybe the Academy people will want something different?

Wikipedia tells me Norway had 4 films nominated for best foreign language film category!
Nine Lives
Pathfinder
The Other Side of Sunday
Elling

I don't really follow the Oscars, not a movie person. I only knew Kon Tiki had been nominated because in my lecture today we talked about Production Companies and our Professor mentioned that Kon Tiki was made by a Production Company with one enployee (which again gets support from one of our biggest companies, and off course we being socialists and everything all our movies are funded by the state up to 70%)

Nine Lives is a black and white movie, Elling was made in 2008ish (?) the other two I have no idea what are, it might be because of the translated titles. Incidentally 4 movies are basically what we make yearly in this tinsy nation.

(btw the documentary was if I remember correctly, also a black and white movie)

High five, fellow socialist! I'm not Norwegian but my country has a similar funding system for films.

I've looked for the original titles of the other films, it's Veiviseren and Søndagsengler.

*fist bump* Which country?

Wow, that was badly translated...
Pathfinder is oh fuck it I can't translate the expression but: Road Guide is the direct translationish.
The Other Side Of Sunday should have been translated to Sunday Angels.

Still haven't hear about one of them though...

*fist bumps back*
France!

And thanks for the translations! Wow indeed, the translations aren't good. Especially the one for Sunday Angels.

Oh cool, one of the countries in Europe I haven't been too... (and everything south of France basically)

They really aren't, and people wonder why I refuse to read translated books if I know the original language.

I know "Veiviseren" have a better translation, but it is way too late for me to think straight. I think t is a religious reference or something. It is a person who shows you the right way to go.
