PS3 problems
If I replug it the indicator light works, and so does the console when prompted, but shuts off again quickly. Is the console just shot (I have one of the Slim models, so it can't be over 4 years old)? Is there any way to save my data? I stupidly never made copies (my own fault, I know :(
I REALLY don't want to buy another PS3 because I just bought another 360. (Can't really afford it either.)

(Anonymous) 2013-01-11 04:22 am (UTC)(link)maybe this might help:
http://www.ehow.com/info_12010700_ps3-keep-turning-off-me.html
the forum I was looking at suggested taking it apart and putting a fan, but, uh, that sounds like a bad idea if you have a warranty in place
do you have a warranty? maybe you could take it to the appropriate official sony place for check up?
I mean, normally I would suggest you try to fix it yourself or something, but a ps3 is expensive enough that a proper repair with the official place sounds worth it
Re: PS3 problems
Now I can't even get the indicator light to turn on so I'm pretty sure the system is dead as a doornail unless I get it repaired (and I'm not sure where I'd take it, or if I'd trust any local shops).
(I imagine getting it repaired from Sony would be three times as expensive though, so I guess I'll do more research and consider my options for now.)
And I don't believe the system is in warranty, no. :( I always buy one but I've had the console long enough that I'm almost certain it's expired, and tbh I can't remember where I bought the system from or where the warranty papers would be. I'll have to see if I can dig them up tomorrow, but I don't have much hope for the warranty.
At least I only have data from about seven games on my PS3, compared to my 360 where I have 40+...
Thanks for the reply, anon. <3
