The entire time we've been together, I've attended synagogue more than he has... he still considers himself Jewish in a spiritual sense but he doesn't observe at all. When I asked him why he doesn't want to go to synagogue he said it was because he doesn't feel comfortable around Ashkenazi Jews because he's Hispanic, I guess I can't really question that (though that was in Nashville and I can only assume Austin has a larger Sephardic community)
