Yeah, I've never gotten the whole "women aren't funny" thing. Nevermind the whole gender bias and plain stupidity of that pov, but also there's the fact that for a long time people just wouldn't hire female comedians. It was just...not allowed. So when people would say "women aren't funny - see how many male comedians there are and how little female" they're just either being dumb.

Not to mention that humor is completely personal taste thing. What's funny to one person might be not funny to another. So it's just odd to say "that person is not funny" because what the person is really saying is that they personally do not find that person funny.

There's still often the attitude that you only hire so many female comedians. Like, casting types got the message about diversity, and then were like, well, we'll get one or two women for each show.

But ONLY one or two women. It doesn't matter how funny they are. They're only looking for one woman.

Because the ~ladies~ aren't funny.

It's kind of bullshit.
