Not to mention that if an actor so much as looks at someone of the same gender funny, everyone worships the ground they walk on as a ~*spokesperson of LGBTQ*~. The literary analysis is really good and all, but everyone really needs to calm down.

I can only assume we are talking about SPN. I love Dean/Cas as much as the next person, but some of those people are fucking nuts. And they don't see their interaction as anything BUT romantic. Even though many of my friends don't ship Dean/Cas and will never see them as romantic (unless it becomes canon). But try explaining that to them.

Hah, not really, I was talking about some actors and RPF, but yeah, Supernatural is pretty prominent in all kinds of aspects. Sometimes someone will begin a post with 'I don't actually ship Dean and Cas...' and I'll be like 'Aaahh finally a post about how all canonical interaction has been platonic and how they are the greatest bros' but nope, it's always about how romantic they are and what a great, progressive character Dean is etc. Everyone just went crazy about the list of fictional lgbtq characters page on Wikipedia (I think it's titled something like that), saying how they knew Dean was bisexual all along, but seriously. They do realise everyday people edit Wikipedia, right? Jeez.

I have been repressing on a Winchester-brother level a rant comparing Dean and Castiel to Antonio and Bassanio in Merchant of Venice where a friendship goes beyond friends, beyond brotherly love, into something transcendent and unique that often gets sullied by sexual description. But I thought, too pretentious, and also no one would care.

The Wikipedia thing is ridiculous. I actually stopped and stared when I first saw it come up. The thing about Tumblr is that it's an echo chamber from hell.

And people thinking Dean/Cas is canon need to calm down a bit. Their canon relationship goes deep, yes, and it's important to them both but that doesn't necessarily mean it has to be romantic.

God I am so sick of the "Dean is bisexual!!" argument because the proof is so often presented out of context and blown completely out of proportion (he realizes he's in the past and looks at a passing soldier in period uniform instead of some women in more modest dress. PROOF*!!!! /s).

Plus there's the subset of Destiel shippers who argue that it should be canon because queer representation and the only reason it isn't is because Jensen/the writers/tv is homophobic.

Plus the wikipedia thing... I saw a similar post in the Sherlock fandom where John Watson had been edited on. Fandom, please.

*no really these two seconds have become a staple of the "hahaha look how heterosexual Dean isn't" posts.

(to make it clear: I don't have a problem with reading Dean as bisexual but I have a problem with the way some people treat it.)

I had someone on Tumblr get pissy with me because I said that Dean wasn't canonically bisexual, and apparently this is ~erasure~ and on the same scale as telling an actual LGBTQ person that they have to be straight, regardless of what they identify as...or something. Nevermind I'm bisexual myself and think that he can be read as a repressed bisexual. It's just not, you know, actually been made canon, and therefore it's kind of shitty for people to act like jerks to people who say they view him as straight.
