Annnnnnnnnd now we have a rape apologist

(Anonymous) 2013-01-12 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
Except it wasn't rape. Like, at all.

If a person is skeeved out by any sort of dubcon scene, then what are you doing at a James Bond movie in the first place? As other commenters have pointed out, it's pretty much par for the course in this series.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-12 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
Just because something is "par for the course" doesn't make it okay.

And dubious consent = not actual consent = rape.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-12 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
No, dubcon is where consent isn't immediately apparent, but not necessarily missing. This occurs only in fiction, and is not the same as rape.

It was kinda rapey. Maybe she was into it, maybe she wasn't, but in context, she could have easily seen it as a situation in which she couldn't safely say no, and he knew that.

They were trying to harken back to the older bond movies, and they aren't particularly PC. The idea is that Bond is irresistible to women, no matter what. Not saying you shouldn't disapprove, but that's kind of who James Bond is. Skyfall sucks anyway though.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-12 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
Fuck you, you really know how to abuse a phrase.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-20 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Why, didn't you know? Actually arguing a point by assembling facts and logic into a coherent argument is completely passe. Now the first person to label the other as an "apologist" wins the argument, automatically.
