I think it's definitely one of those personal taste things. I can think of a lot of female comedians that I don't find funny (I'm actually not a huge Sarah Silverman fan), but I can think of even more male comedians that I find unfunny. A lot of the people who like to argue that women aren't funny tend to focus on one or even a handful of female comedians they don't find funny and then use them as the standard for all women which is... wut. Come on, it's not like people judge all male comedians based on Daniel Tosh or Dane Cook or Carlos Mencia.

I think you're totally right re:that guy's attitude, though. A lot of the people who are vehemently in the "women are inherently less funny than men!" camp tend to be douchebags by definition.
