And then a lot of other shows, I like knowing when/if reoccurring characters pop up against or which ships end up becoming canon/stay fanon. I think it's because those sort of things aren't inherent to the plot, and it's something someone could easily look forward to and never have it pay off (a fascinating lead that never gets developed, 5 seasons of teasing but not a single kiss, etc). So if I know in advance, I can stop focusing on stuff that might never happen and just enjoy the plot.
