While having a crass sense of humor may have something to do with it, that is not a reason to state that all women are not funny, the deep seeded reason is just that he's sexist.

It's unfortunately somewhat common too. I am a very sarcastic woman and I love making jokes, women are typically very attracted to that aspect of my personality, but with men I get a 50/50 reaction, some men are very attracted to it like the women are, but the rest often seem very threatened by it. It has nothing to do with them not responding to my type of humor either, it can often be easy to tell when a man has a very instinctive reaction to a woman telling a joke.

Some guys do not want me making jokes, they want me to sit there and giggle at their jokes and be mesmerized by their genius. Yeah, I don't think so buddy.

Yeah, I would say the same. Most of my female friends find me funny! I am pretty sarcastic and I make a lot of jokes. I also deadpan jokes a lot. WOMEN GET IT. Some men also get it and think its fun! But a significant number of them are put off by it. Many of them respond positively when my brother makes the exact same joke, with very similar timing, because we have similar senses of humor. But I do it, it's not funny.

I do think that there are still a substantial number of men for whom a sense of humor in a woman means laughing at jokes, not making them.

Reddit fun time: see how suddenly everything you say get taken incredibly literally the moment you are known as female.
