Notes:

Sorry, early today!

Also: I'm not going to officially warn for tongue-in-cheek "triggers" just to provide anyone with a fandom-specific in-joke when there are none in the secret.

Thank you!!!

I hate it when certain animals are typecast as evil

LOTR, The Hobbit, I love them, but the wolves, ravens and even cats, being the bad guys, no.

ASOIAF gets this right.

But Roac the Raven was a good guy in the Hobbit!

AYRT

Ah, forgot about Roac! Thank you.

WoT has the wolves being generally very good and anti-evil. Rats and ravens are evil, though, or at least have the potential to be - they're not inherently evil, but are sometimes used as tools by the Big Bad Guy in that series because they're good at being spies and infiltrating places and all that. (But at least there's an explanation.)

You are right.

Been years since I've WoT, totally forgot.

The rats and ravens make sense. They're not portrayed as inherently evil so I don't mind that.

It pisses me off that in the Redwall series, foxes and weasels and all that are instantly evil or 'vermin' (whatever that means!)

There was only ever one good 'vermin' character, and he was considered an anomaly. >:

I figure it's because most redwall stories are from the POV of herbivores, so the characters will automatically consider carnivores "evil"?
