Notes:

Sorry, early today!

Also: I'm not going to officially warn for tongue-in-cheek "triggers" just to provide anyone with a fandom-specific in-joke when there are none in the secret.

Any movie featuring sled teams. I mentioned Eight Below and Snow Dogs up above. Don't you people watch dog movies?!! Fucking internet. Full of cat people.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-12 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
lmaooooo this is so ridiculous I can't even be bothered to find an argument.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-12 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
DA - I'm sorry, the only thing I remember from 8 Below was the HEART-WRENCHING SADNESS.

Oh Lordy - quite a tear jerker for a kids movie. (Also, the seal in the whale OMG DID NOT WANT.)

(Anonymous) 2013-01-14 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I was warned off this movie by someone who knew me well enough not to want to be around me after I watched it.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-12 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Full of cat people.

Cat person here who totally gets what the OP and you are saying.

So don't be hating on the cats or those who love them.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-12 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Those two and Balto are maybe the only sled team movies any sizable number of people have even heard of. Let's examine. In Balto, okay, Steele is the villain, and in Eight Below Max was mischievous but also the eventual leader and clearly a hero, and hell who even cares about Snow Dogs that movie was ten kinds of shit. Not seeing this horrible stereotyping tradition you're on about, sorry.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-12 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Now, now, OP didn't say they were all villains, just that they're the ones shown as acting up in some way.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-12 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
'Typecast' comes off a bit strong when even someone who's seen the movies the OP's talking about can only remember 2 examples, 1 negative and 1 positive.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-12 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
We must associate different connotations to the word. It feels neutral to me.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-12 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Tone of secret and OP's (over)reactions all over this thread are anything but neutral.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-12 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I think there's more people projecting feelings onto the words they see. I think OP is trolling your asses.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-12 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Shut up! You'll ruin it! XD

(Anonymous) 2013-01-13 08:20 am (UTC)(link)
I think these comments are all from the OP, trying to save face after showing their ass.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-12 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I hate cats and I have never seen a film featuring sled teams. No, we don't watch dog movies, because they are pointless wastes of time.

But...But...Homeward Bound! If you never see any other movie in the 'animal' genre, I really recommend you see this one

(Anonymous) 2013-01-12 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
How many sled team movies are there anyway? Or of those movies how many of them actually have a "bad" dog in them?

A fucking small number, that's what.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-12 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
The fact that you can only name two examples makes me think this is less a case of stereotyping and more a case of sled dog film writers ripping each other off.

Ok, here you really are just being silly. "Internet = cat people only?" And implying that "cat people" are dumb...I mean come on.

Also there doesn't have to be a great big divide between Cat People and Dog People. You sound a bit juvenile here, imo.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-13 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
Y so serious?

(Anonymous) 2013-01-13 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
But

Cats are awesome!

Don't dis the cats!
