Yeah, honestly I was thinking more about ancient cultures like the Inca that would keep the royal line "pure" by marrying siblings and thus...no good came of that. Surprising amount of cultures that have that type of thing in their history.

Me too :) Except my 'beagle-type' girl was a grouch even when she was a puppy, but now that she's older she's definitely that cranky old lady who chases people off the porch with her cane. My younger ones all know not to mess with her.
