There's been a few fanvid rec threads recently, which got me wondering where I could find the best-of-the-best. Googling has proven futile because all rec lists have proven heavily slanted towards a particular fandom/pairing.

So, I have a request: post what you think is the single best-made fanvid - by music selection, editing choices, technical skill, etc - you have ever seen. (more than one is fine if you really think they're equally good).

"Hold Me (Håll Om Mig)" for Princess Tutu (spoilery)

Won Best in Show at Anime Boston in '06, and I honestly haven't seen anything better.

The most jaw-droppingly genius fanvid I've ever seen is, without a doubt, this Doctor Who vid by flummery. I first saw it a few years ago, and it still gives me goosebumps with its perfection and amazingly skillful build, absolutely terrifying high point every time:

The buildup in that vid is amazing. I always think it starts out slow and kind of get a bit bored, but then bam it starts to really build and grips you.

It's the song that makes it, but the words and pictures are perfectly fitting, and the timing is impeccable.

It's a beautiful handmade animation, and its only flaw is that it isn't finished yet. orz

To be perfectly fair, a lot of its emotional impact comes from the story in the actual webcomic.

(also, depending on your monitor's setting, you might need to lower or increase your brightness a little to see all the details at parts)
