Getting pressured into changing your name - yes, that squicks me the fuck out and it's unfair that men do not have to face this shit. Especially since 90% of the men I know wouldn't change their names to their wife's. It's seen as degrading and our culture backs them up on that.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-12 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)In the most recent comment, it sounds like you're saying, "Every time I observe an instance of a woman taking her husband's name, it reminds me of how fucked up gender relations are in my area, and that upsets me." That seems reasonable to me.
Saying merely that something squicks you in real life could be taken to mean as "I don't think any woman should take her husband's name anywhere for any reason ever." That's not so reasonable, and might inspire people to say it's none of your business.
