I haven't really been on a bike since age fourteen, but my New Year's resolution is to get more exercise because I've learned that being skinny and being fit are not the same thing. So I thought I'd give bikes a try, and now that I'm older and not stupid, I know I should have a helmet. I don't intend to be a hardcore biker or do much more than some riding for fun and exercise, but I want something that feels protective -- the reason I never wore a helmet when I was a kid was because I always felt like there was a Styrofoam block on top of my head that wasn't actually protecting it around.

Can you recommend me a good, comfortable, not too expensive helmet?

I know how you feel; Really, Bell is pretty good, but the best option is to try some on and make sure nothing is too small.

BERN HELMETS. I got my sister one because she's a 2cool4u hipster who rides a bike exclusively and refused to wear a helmet because they weren't "cool" (which in Nashville is basically begging for brain damage). They also make skate helmets, they come in just about every color and I got one on the CCS (a skate store) website for just under $40

God in Nashville it really is. I swear I see the people riding around here and I'm like wtf do you want to die? Seriously if your riding around cars put a damn helmet on.

And my sister belongs to the Rat Patrol, those crusty punk kids who ride the tall bikes and the other weird welded-together bikes everywhere. I have no idea why anyone would want to ride a double-decker bike without a helmet. LIVE FAST, DIE YOUNG, indeed

I've been so used to horse riding helmets bike helmets look incredibly ugly. :c It's been a long time since I've ridden a bike too.
