Shit, that does leave me stumped. I still don't think they really count as an orientation for the social reasons (I guess you could argue it's not socially acceptable to be totally aromantic but at the same time, do you really get legally discriminated against for it?)

You're joking, right? Orientations are defined by who you're attracted to, not whether your attraction makes you a target for discrimination.
