especially given that a significant proportion of the Sterek shippers claim that they're campaigning for their ship for queer representation...while they also ignore or use the canon queer POC.

Oh come on. I could see this if Danny was a main character but so far, he's Jackson's Best Friend and that's all. Hopefully the show does more with him in season three and we'll have a queer main character but until then, are you really telling me there's no different between Danny and between Derek and Stiles? I think POC representation in media is important too but this is a pretty weak argument. Fandom's not ignoring Danny any more than the canon is.

But I have to agree with Scott. I really hate what fandom is doing with him. :\

The distinction is that there are people who ship Sterek while proclaiming that they are championing queer representation. If they wanted to do that, shouldn't they be campaigning for more screentime for Danny?

DA. Danny's actor is ... not all that good and he looks even less like a teenager than the others, so I'm not hoping for more screentime for him.

Maybe because people are usually more interested in characters that already have a personality and a background story in canon, more so than in a side character who gets completely ignored by the show?
