I'm a big Final Fantasy fan, but Megaten is right up there too because they're just so...awesome. The games seriously don't get the love they deserve. I've come to love Shin Megami Tensei games so much that I buy them just because of that name--I know the game will more than likely kick ass. And, the soundtracks are usually wonderful as well.
And, your friends aren't really your friends if they hate you for liking something different from them.

The game cost me fifty bucks, but it's a lot more worth it than most games; it comes in a collectors box, includes an art book, and even a CD of the soundtrack for the game. The guide was small, and cost twenty bucks, but I would've ttly bought if the place I got my game at hadn't already sold out. It's my first encounter with the series, and I'm only about six hours into the game, but I already love it to death.
Sorry for the random comment, but you are the first person I've found that likes the series since I bought the game >>;

I absolutely love the art book. It contains the most beautiful art. I'm actually fairly close to the end (I've played about 50 hours) and if I wasn't picking up Wild Arms 5 this week, I'd so play through it again. If you have the chance (and if you're able to find 'em), I recommend playing Digital Devil Saga 1&2--they're kick ass games, as well. But, yeah, the Megaten series seriously doesn't get enough love.

But Nocturne is definitely the best game. Followed by DDS2, then 1 :D
