As for Bilbo, YMMV of course, but I thought he was adorable, charming and he had that 'ordinary excellence' thing going for him. I can't imagine anyone else having played the part. (Well, except Ian Holm.)

I agree with the previous comment, and I don't think he looks all that annoyed in that. Sometimes, yes, because Dwarves! uninvited ones! but far from all the time.

True. He had his little smiles and quaint fascination and plenty of fear, and while there was a decent amount of annoyance from him in The Hobbit, it was almost always understandable imo. And so Bilbo in nature.
