Wait, is it just their eyebrows raising or is there some other fandom reference?

No, that was it. I just didn't understand why this guy had two caterpillars floating above his hair because, in a lot of drawings, the people don't have eyebrows. So when I finally realized the caterpillars were his eyebrows, I laughed. If there is a fandom reference, though, I missed it.
