Re: driving in a big city for the first time
-Know the route beforehand. Writing down stuff, especially the turns and landmarks/exit numbers, is good.
-For freeway driving in places with more than two lanes, try to stay in the second lane from the right. City people don't know how to %=%&$=! merge, so it's best to stay out of the rightmost lane and bypass that problem altogether. Avoid the leftmost lane, a lot of batshit people hang out there and they will pull some insane moves if you get in their way.
-Keep an eye out for lines of brake lights ahead, this is a sign that traffic is getting blocked up and you should slow down. Odds are this will occur at least once sometime in your trip, as Atlanta traffic is nasty as hell.
-Assume that people are idiots/haven't spotted you. It proves true more often than it ought to.
Good luck, I'm sure you'll do great!
