All digimon I believe are technically gender-neutral, although they can take gender identities. I'm pretty sure Gatomon got female pronouns in the dub, but I forget if the sub ever said anything.

Well, she was voiced by an adult woman in the original Japanese, so I guess I considered that a pretty clear indicator. Also, Hikari called her "Ojou-sama" in an affectionate/teasing way at least once.

It always seemed clear to me what gender the various digimon were supposed to be, even though Japanese doesn't have gendered pronouns to indicate it.
