Now that you mention it... that did bother me. Don't get me wrong, I think Kaylee is a really sweet person, but she barely knew Simon and he barely knew her at this point. Simon had a responsibility to watch over his sister, he's a fugitive on the run, and feels like he's being bullied by the Mal and Jayne everyday.

So, of course he is stressed out. Yet Kaylee took it as a personal offense when he sarcastically said 'yeah, this is totally my idea of a good life'. She was only thinking about herself and not the situation he was in. It also kinda pissed me off that Inara looked at him like he was the biggest douchebag in the universe.

And then in that episode called 'The Message' Kaylee got insulted because he didn't compliment her properly, when he obviously was trying to be flattering in his own awkward way. She just got insulted as if he was purposely trying to offend her, which he was not. Kaylee is usually such a forgiving and sweet person so it always confused me how fast she got angry at Simon when he never meant to insult her... ever.

I don't have anything against them as a couple because when Kaylee isn't getting offended for stupid/selfish reasons they are actually really cute, but Simon was dedicated to helping his sister get better and Kaylee shouldn't have taken it so personal when he wasn't on the same wavelength as her.
