Yes. I've seen people trigger some odd stuff...it was kinda funny, but I don't think most people would be triggered by the last airbender movie.

The Last Airbender Movie, seriously? I know it was a shitty movie, but I don't think that qualifies as a trigger, even if it did cause me a certain amount of mental anguish...

It depends, though. I actually could have been triggered by that movie because I've been dealing with PTSD this year after nearly dying in a fire, and scenes where people are badly wounded or killed by fire can be triggering for me.

I do totally agree that people need to not say "trigger" when they mean "discomfort," but the flip side of that is that people also should not be dismissive of unusual triggers.

Actually, I think "odd" things can be the most common triggers, because a lot of people are triggered by seemingly innocuous things that remind them of a trauma they experienced.

Which is another reason why it's important to distinguish between triggers and things that make us uncomfortable. Triggers don't need to be things that the average person would see as upsetting.

Things like particular shades of colour are a fairly common trigger in PTSD sufferers, and the range of triggers for anxiety disorders is humongous.

Nobody is expected to warn for triggers that aren't part of the "most common" set, because it could literally be anything.

Except for the small (loud) subset that want people to trigger warn for everything that makes them personally uncomfortable/upset/triggered. I can understand asking that from a few people you follow regularly, but...

Uh...

No...?
