WTF to making up a plot for that last movie. *shakes head*
One of my favorite moments in the Anne books is the very end of one of them, I forget which, and she's watching her kids sleeping and there's a shadow on the wall over her son's bed and it's just so lump in the throat because you know it's prefiguring his death in the war. That's a great moment.

Yes, that moment was perfect. Montgomory wasn't the best writer, and the books in some ways got worse later on, but she could write a perfect moment or scene that just captured the emotion.
Have you read the prequel book, Road to Green Gables I think it is called? I thought it was actually pretty decent, unlike the movie prequel.
