People have other examples already, but I'll throw in an obligatory The Dark Is Rising mention.

That said, it varies for me (particularly for foreign takes like say, Ghibli) but video game ones are always the most depressing for me. I'd even take a good short adaptation at this point.

HMMM you're both right, now that I think about it. It must have been a terrible, terrible nightmare.

Or my friend's, since I've never seen actual evidence with my own eyes.

haha to be honest, I haven't actually seen it either. I saw the trailer and read enough about it to know that I would be better off just ignoring it exists xD

Haha, same with me--I heard all about it from my friend ranting. She almost never does that, so that was enough proof for me to keep far far away from it.
