~The plain fact is, if you have never been triggered you can't really know what it is, or at least I think so*.~

I haven't, and no, I can't. There are certainly themes that upset me, mostly due to real-life reasons, but nothing that I would consider a trigger or that causes the kind of reactions I've seen described here.

At least so far as the written word goes. There are real-life situations that I tend to react to out of proportion - my mother has a nasty temper, and I have countless lovely recollections of being chased into a corner and screamed at, so when someone raises their voice at me I sometimes need to work at maintaining my composure.

Again, not what I'd consider a trigger, and *reading* about those situations doesn't bother me in the least, but I can see how it could happen.
