Just as women can exhibit or endorse misogyny, it is in fact perfectly possible for gay people to exhibit or endorse homophobia. The society in which we live offers considerable pressure,underpinning and rewards for it.

I know that, but don't think it applies in this instance since a large part of it was a bunch of straight, slash-loving fangirls accusing a gay man - who'd also created shows like Queer as Folk - of hating gay people. No offense, but I will side-eye that kind of thing forever.
