For a story I wrote, I put an abuse warning (which he was "convincing" my MC to do things for him, including sleeping with his co-workers and constantly giving the 'you should be glad I would date you' vibe) and had people blast me for using triggers incorrectly because he never actually hit her. Luckily I had a bunch of others come to my aid and say what I wanted to say to those people.

Yeah, that's the kind of thing I was thinking of. I mean, if possible it's nice to differentiate between emotional abuse and physical abuse (because some people have triggers for one but not the other), but if you only have an "abuse" option that kind of thing is definitely something people would be glad to be warned for despite the fact that some people (and even writers) may not parse the warning's meaning that way.
