I know what you're saying, and I love AO3's mobis over anything FF.net spits out for mobis, but... afaik, you can't straight download the mobis from AO3 using the online function on the Kindle. At least it has never let me download any book directly onto the Kindle outside of the Amazon site. That means using my computer to download the mobis, and then using a cable to put them on there. Waaaaaay too much trouble, especially for short stories under 10k words.

As far as reading one-shots or short stories is concerned, it's easier to just go to the Pit's mobile version and read them straight on the Kindle. They look fine.

eta: In addition, it wouldn't matter if I *could* download mobis straight from AO3 to my Kindle. The site takes horribly long to load and is barely functional, meaning it would take a ridiculous amount of time just to get to the story I want to download anyway. It would still be quicker and easier to use FF.net.
