I can let it go when it's my OTP and I'm reading it for the porn anyway. But I remember coming across one fic years ago (I can't remember the pairing, but it was m/m) where one of the guys brought up condoms and the other said they weren't necessary because they can't get each other pregnant.

I facepalmed pretty damn hard at that one because there was no reason for the characters to be that ignorant - I'm pretty sure it was just the author being a moron. And I sincerely hope that they learned that condoms help prevent more than just pregnancy =____=

My first thought is of The Paradox Series, which actually rather took that conversation and turned it on its head. And now I'm giggling about it.

Was it a historical setting? Because prior to the AIDS crisis (early 1980s) most male characters would think exactly that.
