I prefer they just write sex sans condom since most fic (especially slash) is written in a fantasy universe where STDs and poop and the normal grossness that can happen before, during and after sex doesn't exist. Fantasy sex is fantasy sex. No need to break up the scene with descriptions of putting on a condom, which is typically unsexy.
