I post because I want rarepairs and I figure if I'm wanting it, at least one other person out there probably does. And if they don't, well, at least I can easily read AO3 on my phone when I'm bored at work.

Same here. I started writing because I wanted to read a fic about a certain thing. There weren't any, so I wrote one for myself and put in all the stuff I wanted. And so on. It's fun when someone else leaves a sign that they share my tastes! (Even if, in some cases, it's stuff I now kinda wince over because I wrote it in 2003 or whatever.)
