I... am having a bit of trouble with the implication that reading a fic and not leaving feedback has the same effect as not paying for a book. Like, the crime is stealing the enjoyment the writing brings to the reader. Yeah, I wish more people would leave comments on fic, but this seems like demanding some kind of tribute.

I see it as more... you put all that work into something, and then get resounding silence. And it's discouraging. It's not an entitlement complex or wanting tribute so much as wanting some kind of acknowledgement. How long does it take to push the little Kudos button? And people won't even do that much? Feh, I'd rather write something I might get paid for.

Not if the author tosses an epic size snitfit about 'if you're going to leave kudos, don't bother. comment or gtfo'.

after a while, the default gets set to not leaving anything.
